Chiropractic care is like helping you build or rebuild your perfect home. Everything you have done in your life will either build up, or break down your foundation. Certain things have to happen in a certain order in order to for your building to stand strong and work correctly. When building your house, you wouldn’t want to put up walls and a roof without a very strong and solid foundation. Your walls will be weak and not stand straight and strong and eventually collapse. Your body has to have a plan of care in order to repair itself and heal.
There are three different phases of Chiropractic care:
Phase 1: Relief Care
If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first goal is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to receive 2-3 treatments per week for 4-6 weeks.
Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care
During this phase of care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, while helping you to prevent further injury. In this phase it is typical to receive care 4-8 times per month for the next 6-24 months. This is greatly dependant on your overall health and the severity of your problem.
Phase 3: Wellness Care
Once your body has fully healed, it is important to make sure you are maintaining your structure. The importance of coming in for periodic adjustments is paramount so that you may avoid possible problems in the future. This requires a quick visit to our office 1-4 times per month based on your lifestyle and health goals.
New Patient Center
Here at Scottsdale Joint and Spine, we are committed to help you on your wellness journey. This begins by completely filling out all of our patient forms. These forms were not made to apply more stress to your life, on the contrary, they are made so that we have the data and information necessary to stay on the cutting edge of compliance, while opening a door into your personal story. This helps us get to know you and your concerns better. This paperwork has been added to the New Patient Center of this website. Hopefully, to make this experience as easy and convenient as possible.
The journey continues by having a consultation with the Physician of your choice to discuss your health related concerns, problems you are having, and potential treatment options. In this initial visit, one of our doctors has the opportunity to learn more about you, your condition and expectations to determine how Chiropractic care and/or other care modalities can meet your goals.
After your initial consultation, Dr. Guilford or Dr. Davis will perform a complete Chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard tests are neurological, orthopedic, postural, and other physical tests will also be performed. Nothing will ever be done in our office without your full consent.
Depending on your personal history, the doctor may find it in your best interest to have X-Rays taken. X-Rays help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal conditions. Most of the time, the patient can identify some of their more obvious misalignments and degeneration themselves.
Once all the information is collected and the Examination is performed, Dr. Guilford or Dr. Davis will give you a comprehensive report of all findings and answer any questions you may have including:
- How can you help me?
- how often will I need to come in?
- What will my treatment cost?
Report of Findings
After reviewing your health history, your goals and considering the findings on examination of your spine and X-Rays, our doctors will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. We will then provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.
At the conclusion of this appointment, you may choose to have your very first treatment. This may include a spinal adjustment, physiotherapy, and/or medical massage. Our treatments are absolutely interactive. Please do not hesitate to voice your concerns about the different styles of treatments we offer.
Before leaving our office, the doctor will suggest a wellness program to incorporate into your daily life. If you are in pain, these suggestions may include: Ice or heat instructions, activities and/or positions to avoid, and home exercises or stretches pertinent to your condition. we encourage all of our patients to ask us about our Healthy Habits program that promotes healing and a healthy lifestyle.
We consider all of our patients individuals. Everyone is so different. Therefore, we make sure that your program is tailor made just for you. The purpose of our healthy habits program is so you can achieve and maintain good spinal alignment, create and continue a healthy diet, exercise and of course support a positive mental state.
